The story behind Hola Asia…

When we moved to the Puerto Morelos area 10+ years ago, we missed the Oriental restaurants we left back in Michigan. There were a few Chinese restaurants in Cancun, but the food style was different from what we were use to back home. So we took a leap of faith and opened Hola Asia in Puerto Morelos thinking that a few of the other transplants from the states also missed that type of food. Hola Asia was small when we opened in 2000, a few tables inside and outside on the sidewalk, we could seat 16 people. It was apparent right away that we were totally off base. Not only did the transplants drive in from Cancun and Playa del Carmen and as far away as Tulum, the local's embraced us with open arms or should I say "Open Mouths." Sunday is "Local" day, where families come to enjoy the food and time together. Each year we added additions to the restaurant to accommodate our guest, now we have a rooftop dining area, bar and downstairs seating for 90. We have been voted “Best” restaurant in Puerto Morelos for the last 5 years.

        Hola Asia is located in the center town square of Puerto Morelos, just steps away from the water's edge. The Roof top bar and dining area have a spectacular view of the  park area and the Caribbean Ocean. Puerto Morelos is a fishing town, many of the local residents are fishermen, and we take full advantage of that offering many fresh fish and seafood dishes. In fact all of our items are cooked to order with fresh quality ingredients purchased daily.  Please stop by Puerto Morelos during your next visit to the Mayan Riviera; it’s a very special place and we are very proud to be part of the community.
